Old City

Also referred to as the Icherisheher – literally ‘Inner City’ – this is the historical core and most ancient part of Baku. It is separated from the rest of the city by a long and curved wall.

Heydar Aliyev Centre

Designed by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid, and noted for its distinctive and curved shape, the Centre houses an auditorium, gallery hall and museum.

Yanar Dagh

Azerbaijani for ‘burning mountain’, Yanar Dagh is a natural gas fire blazing on the Absheron Peninsula on the Caspian Sea.

Palace of the Shirvanshahs and Maiden Tower

Described by UNESCO as “one of the pearls of Azerbaijan’s architecture.” This 15th century palace is one of the biggest monuments in Baku, with Maiden Tower a symbol of Baku.

Ateshgah of Baku

Often referred to as the ‘Fire Temple of Baku’, this castle-like religious temple was decreed as a historical-architectural reserve in 2007.

Highland Park

Being one of the most iconic sights of Baku, at its highest point, visitors can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the city and bay.

NEFTCHILER AVENUE

Neftciler Avenue, consisting of 5 bi-directional lanes, starts from Azneft Square and extends along Baku Boulevard, providing a comfortable traffic flow for citizens and visitors.

Baku Boulevard

Running parallel to Baku’s seafront, this promenade was created in 1909. It traditionally starts at Freedom Square and continues west to the Old City.

Baku City Circuit

This motor racing street circuit plays host to Formula One’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The race also meanders through Baku’s Old City.
